The dining room of a home is characterized as a multipurpose space, whether it is for an intimate dinner, a meeting with friends, board games, or for any activity that requires a large surface. That is why it is very important that the lighting corresponds to the multiple needs of the space.

The first thing to do is look for decorative light fixtures or sets of fixtures that compliment the shape of the table. Typically square or circular tables go well with circular chandeliers, while an elongated table will look best with linear or multiple-shade fixtures. The proportion of the fixture should be approximately 2/3 the length of the table.

Once the main light fixture has been chosen, we can look for ways to complement the light with more powerful and utilitarian lighting, such as recessed ceiling lights or wall sconces.

If the space has other furniture, or even pieces of art such as paintings, do not forget to accentuate them with ceiling or wall-mounted luminaires.
